FamilyTreeFactory draws graphics in layers, starting with the bottom layer and ending with the top layer. The following image shows how layers are used:

The graphic background and frame layer as well as person boxes, connection lines, title, key and direct person index layer are created automatically based on the settings in the Treeview Options. Treeview Options are saved in family files (*.fml), options files (*.tvo) and treeview files (*.trv).
The layers used for Free Objects are based on the settings in the Edit Free Text Objects..., Edit Free Image Objects... and Edit Free Geo Objects... dialogs. Please note that Free Objects can be located either above or below the person box layer. The data for Free Objects are saved in treeview files (*.trv) and in free placeable objects files (*.fpo).
To save a complete graphic for later use, you will need to save both the underlying family file (*.fml) and the treeview file (*.trv). These two files can be used to exactly reproduce a graphic, as long as no personal data are changed in the family file. A detailed description of the various file types can be found in the section The FamilyTreeFactory Files.
