Using Banner Paper

Print this topic Previous pageOne level upNext page

Many printers are capable of printing on so-called banner paper. Standard banner paper is usually made up of numerous Letter format pages that are connected along a perforated line. The paper is folded into a stack, which can be inserted into a compatible printer.

For 8" x 5" booklets, this banner paper can be used to create printed documents that are only 8 inches high, but extremely wide. These graphics can be folded in and out multiple times. If you leave an entire page width empty on the left side, you can read the family chronicle and view the entire unfolded graphic simultaneously.

The graphic is printed in a single print process, regardless of the number of banner paper pages (X) that are needed. Proceed as follows: Under File, select Printer Setup... and set the paper format and/or paper feed to banner paper. Under Treeview Options, Printer Page tab, select Orientation Landscape, X pages horizontal, Print Justification Use paper format for size. Under Treeview Options, Automatic Width/Height tab, mark Use Automatic Width/Height function and mark the checkbox Use settings from Printer Page. Create the graphic again. Open the Print Preview window to see how the graphic is arranged on the page. In Print Preview mode, mark the Margins checkbox and move the left optional margin (green) with the mouse to clear a binding margin or an entire page, as desired. Then, print out the graphic.

Note: The process described has been successfully tested with an Hewlett-Packard (1) printer. Printers from other manufacturers may respond differently when printing on banner paper.
