A graphic can be split into two facing, fold-out pages to provide for a format that is almost four times larger than a single page. For a book in Letter format, this will create a usable area of about 33 inches wide and 11 inches high, which provides enough room for about 6 rows (generations) and 25 to 30 columns (persons).
To allow space for a binding margin, a box column is left blank in the middle of the graphic. Right-click on a box or the background in the column that you want to leave blank and select Insert Column for Binding Margin from the menu that appears. All columns to the right, including the one you clicked on, will be moved to the right.
To print a graphic on fold-out facing pages with a blank binding margin, take the following steps: Select a format in your printer settings that is twice as large as your book, such as 11 x 17 inches if your book is in Letter format. Under Treeview Options, Printer Page tab, select Orientation Landscape, 2 Pages horizontal, Print Justification Use paper format for size. Under Treeview Options, Automatic Width/Height tab, mark Use Automatic Width/Height function and mark the checkbox Use settings from Printer Page. Create the graphic again and insert the binding margin column as described above. Open the Print Preview window to see how the graphic is arranged on the page. In Print Preview mode, mark the Margins checkbox and move the left and right optional margins (green) so that there is at least 0.5 inch of empty space inside the outside margins of the page. The outside margins must be cut off later so that the pages can be easily folded together. It may also be necessary to cut one of the pages along the inside binding margin if there is a large discrepancy between the non-printable margins.
Print out both pages. If you would like to use double-sidedly printed paper, insert the pages one-by-one into the printer and print each page separately. In the Print dialog, first select Pages From: 1 To: 1 and then Pages From: 2 To: 2.
If you do not have a printer capable of printing oversize pages with a width of 11", print all pages on high-quality Letter format paper using the best possible print quality. These pages can then be enlarged to 11" x 17" at a copy shop.
