"Parents and grandparents 1x central" and "Parents and grandparents 2x chronological" options
These trees are basically the same as grandparents' descendant trees with the addition of one earlier generation. The top row displays four pairs of great-grandparents. To understand these trees, it may be useful to read the sections about grandparents' descendant trees, as the concepts are similar. The number of possible combinations for great-grandparents' descendant trees is too great for structural examples to be displayed here.
Great-grandparents' descendant trees using the option "Parents and grandparents 1x central" have an additional characteristic. The connection lines between the great-grandparents and grandparents as well as those between the grandparents and parents form a "barrier" of sorts, which makes it impossible to display further grandchildren from the two great-grandparents pairs positioned in the middle.
The following picture is valid for the orientation of the tree structure Oldest generation at the top:

Because of this "barrier", the tree can only be drawn if at least two of the great-grandparents pairs do not have any children with children of their own except for the grandparents. The descendants from other partnerships of the great-grandparents pairs on the right are not important here, as these descendants cannot be displayed anyway. The great-grandparents pairs are automatically positioned based on their existing descendants so that no persons collide with the "barriers". If this cannot be done, the process will be canceled and an error message will appear:
Possible error messages: The treeview Great-grandparents' Descendant Tree (Parents and Grandparents 1x central) cannot be shown because BOTH of the great-grandparents pairs over the grandparents pair on father's side or on mother's side have further children with grandchildren beside the grandparents.
If such an error message is shown to you, you can perform the following remedial actions:
| • | Create a treeview Great-grandparents' Descendant Tree with the option "Parents and Grandparents 2x chronological". |
| • | Search for the persons to whom the error message referred, that means children of both great-grandparents pairs above the grandparents pair on father's side or on mother's side, who are not grandparents of the primary person and who have children in the generation of the parents of the primary person. |
| • | At one of the two great-grandparents pairs these children in the generation of the parents of the primary person must be excluded from the representation: Decide on which side the exclusion shall be performed, click with the right mouse button on the person boxes and choose the function Exclude Person from the menu. Confirm the messages that the exclusion is taken into account not before the next creation of the tree, however, do not create the tree newly yet. |
| • | Open the Treeview Options dialog, Graphic Content tab, and check the content of the list Excluded Persons. Remove the mark in the checkbox Automatically clear the list if the tree type or the primary person is changed, because in the next step another tree type will be created, that is the option "Parents and grandparents 1x central". |
| • | Create a treeview Great-grandparents' Descendant Tree with the option "Parents and Grandparents 1x central". If the error message mentioned above appears now once more, the problem was on father's side and on mother's side. Then you must perform the same actions for the other side as well and exclude the not presentable children in the generation of the parents of the primary person also there. After such a second run of the remedial actions no more error message should appear. |
