Grandparents' Descendant Tree (Parents 1x Central)

Print this topic Previous pageOne level upNext page

These special descendant trees are used to display the specified number of generations of saved descendants of the grandparents of the primary person. Only the persons that fulfill the specified output criteria are displayed (see Treeview Options, Graphic Content tab, Tree structure, Orientation and relatives).

To create this structure, both parents and the four grandparents of the primary person must be available with a record. If necessary, placeholder records are created to this after confirmation request. Excluded parents or grandparents are removed from the list of the excluded persons in the Treeview Options, Graphic Content tab, without confirmation request so that they are available again. No loss of ancestors/ancestral implex may occur under the ancestors of the primary person within the included generations.

The structure of this graphic is based on two descendant trees of the two pairs of grandparents. However, these trees are different from normal descendant trees in certain ways.

For the grandparents, partnerships may not be shown in chronological order; the partner who is the ancestor of the primary person will always be shown closest to the center of the tree. For the grandparents on the right, the partner who is the ancestor of the person will be shown on the far left, and vice versa.
The same changes are made to the birth order for the parents of the primary person, if necessary. The parent of the primary person on the left will be shown to the far right among siblings, and vice versa.
This results in the parents of the primary person being displayed in the center, directly next to one another. The parent on the right will have two connection lines to predecessors in the structure - one to the parent on the left (his/her partner) and one to the grandparents on the right (his/her parents). This layout is called "parents 1x central".

In certain situations, you will need to configure certain settings for the tree structure.

If both partners in a grandparents pair or parents pair have had several partnerships, it is not possible to display all of these partnerships and any resulting descendants. In these cases, a dialog will appear and ask which of the partners should have multiple partnerships displayed. This selected partner will be positioned on the left and his/her partner will be displayed to the right. This may result in the female partner being positioned to the left.
If just one partner in a grandparents pair or parents pair has had several partnerships, he/she will automatically be positioned on the left with the multiple partners following to the right. This may also result in the female partner being positioned to the left.
If neither of the partners in a grandparents pair or parents pair has had several partnerships, the husband will always be positioned on the left and the wife on the right.

The vast array of possible combinations cannot all be shown here. Here are a few examples in which both the parents and grandparents have had multiple partnerships. You can create different treeviews by deciding which partner should have multiple partnerships displayed in each case. The examples also show how chronological orders may need to be adjusted to display the parents directly next to one another.
