Create New Family File... Opens the Edit Personal Data dialog to create the first record in a new family file.

Open Family File... Opens an existing family file for further editing/evaluation. You can only open family files *.fml here. If you would like to open a backup copy *.fmb, you will need to rename it in your operating system and give it the extension .fam.

Note: Family files (*.fml) can also be dragged with the mouse from Windows Explorer into the FamilyTreeFactory program window to open them.

Save Family File Saves the current family file. The old version of the file will be saved as a backup copy with the *.fmb extension. If a backup copy already exists, it will be rewritten with the new backup copy.

Save Family File As... Saves a newly-created family file for the first time or creates a new copy of a previously-saved family file under a new name and/or path.

Close family file Closes the opened family file and a treeview (if open).

Imprint of the Family File... Opens the Imprint of the Current Family File dialog. The imprint is used for identification of the author and for a description of the family file. The save date is automatically created and can help for determining the exact version of a file. The texts are saved in the corresponding family file *.fml. When exporting FamilyTreeFactory records to a Gedcom file, the author is saved as the submitter and the title and description are saved as the file note.

To-Do List of the Family File... Opens a dialog for entering and editing general notes. This can be used for a to-do list.

Import Gedcom File... Opens and converts a Gedcom file *.ged to FamilyTreeFactory records.

Note: Gedcom files (*.ged) can also be dragged with the mouse from Windows Explorer into the FamilyTreeFactory program window to open them.

Export Gedcom File... Converts and saves FamilyTreeFactory records to a Gedcom file *.ged.

Printer Setup... Dialog for selecting and configuring an installed Windows printer.

Print Preview You should check the expected results in the Print Preview window each time before printing. The Print Preview function offers you the same easy method for finding duplicate person boxes available in the Export Preview window.

Print... Starts the printing process. The standard Windows dialog will appear.

1: / 2: / 3: / 4: Quick selection option for the four recently-used family or Gedcom files.

Exit Closes FamilyTreeFactory. If any changes to personal data or options have been made since the last save, you will be asked if you want to save these changes.
