Conventions for Graphic Frame Images

Print this topic Previous pageOne level upNext page

Graphic frame images must be bitmap files (*.bmp) and be at least 630 x 630 pixels in size. They contain 8 image segments that make up the graphic frame:

The following table describes the functions of the individual image segments (the rectangle in the center is not used):

Segment

Part of image

A

300 x 300 pixels, top left corner

B

300 pixels high, top of side

C

300 x 300 pixels, top right corner

D

300 pixels wide, right side

E

300 x 300 pixels, bottom right corner

F

300 pixels high, bottom of side

G

300 x 300 pixels, bottom left corner

H

300 pixels wide, left side

The corner segments A, C, E and G are resized to the correct pixel size to fit the target areas at the corners of the graphic frame.

The side segments B, D, F and H are resized to the correct pixel size to fit the target areas along the sides of the graphic frame. The next steps depend on the settings in the Treeview Options, Graphic Format tab:

Option Single side images: Each side segment is only inserted once. This means that side segments will be stretched significantly in the longitudinal direction to fill the space between the corners. The width/height ratio of the segments is usually distorted. For this reason, you should only use images whose content is uniform in the longitudinal direction.

The following example shows you a graphic frame image, 630 x 630 pixels (with added highlighting of segment edges in red), that was used above for explaining segment functions on the inside. The outside graphic frame has been created using the option Single side images:

Option Multiple side images: Each side segment will be inserted multiple times in the longitudinal direction. The number of copies is calculated so that the width/height ratio of the side segments is kept as close as possible to the original. This technique is used if a structured image content in the side segments is to be displayed in a recurring pattern, such as the Meander frame.

The following example, Meander, shows you a graphic frame image, 900 x 900 pixels (with added highlighting of segment edges in red), on the inside. The outside graphic frame has been created using the option Multiple side images:
