The context sorting file editor allows the user to configure the context-sensitive sorting method used for multipart surnames by modifying the FamilyTreeFactory.cst context sorting file. The rules for context sorting of multipart surnames are described in detail in the Appendix in the section Alphabetic Sorting in Lists. Read these instructions to learn how to use the context sorting file editor correctly.

Click the OK button to accept the lists in the context sorting file. Changes are immediately effective in FamilyTreeFactory. The Cancel button closes the dialog without making changes.

Example for usage:

A family contains the surname 'Miner to Higherfield' (1). The user assumes that it is not a nobility name, but rather a normal name 'Miner' followed by descriptive words that relate to an elevated field. The name should be sorted under M for Miner. This can be accomplished by moving the name Miner to the NON-NOBLE PREFIXES list. This would also cause the name 'Miner to Lowerfield' (1) to be sorted under M.
