Note 1: All functions described here for entire branches may not be used in grandparents' descendant trees (parents 1x central), great-grandparents' descendant trees (parents and grandparents 1x central) or for siblings in ancestor trees.

The right mouse button always brings up a context-sensitive menu. The context of this menu depend on the position of the mouse cursor, as in the following examples:

Context-sensitive menu of a normal person box (Automatic Width/Height function switched on):

The context-sensitive menu of a person box offers a function to minimize the box height (Automatic Width/Height function switched off, equal box heights):

The context-sensitive menu of a person box offers a function with a submenu to minimize the box height in the marked generation or in all generations (Automatic Width/Height function switched off, unequal box heights):

Context-sensitive menu for a duplicate person box in which a godparent and two witnesses are named:

Context-sensitive menu of an person box on a border (in the top or bottom row of boxes):

Context-sensitive menu of a Free Image Object with an EMF or JPEG file:

Note regarding the function Snap Free Image Object to Grid: At unequal box heights, a Free Image Object with an EMF or JPEG file can only be snapped horizontally to the horizontal column grid, because the vertical row grid is uneven due to the different box heights. The function is then called Snap Free Image Object to Grid Horizontally.

The functions in the context-sensitive menus are as follows:

Edit Personal Data... Open the dialog Edit Personal Data with the record of the selected person.

Show Further Personal Data This function opens a submenu with some personal data, which are saved for the selected person, but currently not output in the person box. So this function and the submenu can be dropped completely or partly. The submenu may contain the following items:

For photos and documents the assigned image files and document files are listed into two submenus. By clicking a menu item text data are shown in a text window; files are opened in the standard program which was assigned to the file extension under Windows.

Change Order of Partners / Children... Open the dialog Change Order of Partners / Children for the selected person. This function is offered only if partners or children are saved for the selected person.

Exclude Person Excludes the selected person so that they will not be shown when the treeview is redrawn. This function causes the selected person to be added to the list of excluded persons, which can be seen under Treeview Options, Graphic Content tab.

Note 2: Basic use of the main, ancillary and replacement color schemes is described in detail in the section Treeview Options, Box Colors tab.

Use Main Color Scheme for and Use Ancillary Color Scheme 1/2 for

Assign a color scheme to the selected person only, to the selected person and the persons in the associated branch, or to all persons in a column or row.

These functions are only available if you have selected Constant (certain record numbers) for both ancillary color schemes under Treeview Options, Box Colors tab, Assignment of Ancillary Color Schemes sub-tab.

This function assigns lists of records to ancillary color schemes 1 and 2. The lists can be viewed under Treeview Options, Box Colors tab, Assignment of Ancillary Color Schemes sub-tab.

Replace color scheme for

Replaces the automatically-assigned main or ancillary color scheme with a replacement color scheme. The Replacement Color Scheme dialog will open.

Restore color scheme for

Clears the manually-assigned replacement color scheme. In this menu, you can also choose the option all Persons in this Tree, which will clear the replacement color schemes for all persons in the treeview. This will return all persons to the originally-assigned main and ancillary color schemes.

Create Ancestor Tree Draws an ancestor tree for the selected person (also available under Treeview menu, Create Ancestor Tree). If ancestor numbers are activated for output, a dialog will ask you if you want to use the current ancestor number of the selected person or the initial value from the Treeview Options, Box Content tab, as the new initial value.

Create Descendant Tree Draws an ancestor tree for the selected person (also available under Treeview menu, Create Descendant Tree). If descendant numbers are activated for output, a dialog will ask you if you want to use the descendant number of the selected person or the initial value from the Treeview Options, Box Content tab, as the new initial value.

Create Grandparents' Descendant Tree

Draws a graphic with all descendants of the grandparents of the selected person (also available under Treeview menu, Create Grandparents' Descendant Tree).

Create Great-grandparents' Descendant Tree

Draws a graphic with all descendants of the great-grandparents of the selected person (also available under Treeview menu, Create Great-grandparents' Descendant Tree).

Create Relatives Tree... Opens the Create Relatives Tree dialog for configuring and creating a relatives tree with the selected person as the primary person (also available under Treeview menu, Create Relatives Tree...).

Center and Zoom out The treeview is redrawn to a smaller scale. The point where you clicked with the mouse will be shown in the approximate center of the window.

Center and Zoom in The treeview is redrawn to a larger scale. The point where you clicked with the mouse will be shown in the approximate center of the window.

Center and Zoom to

The treeview will be drawn to the scale selected in the submenu. The point where you clicked with the mouse will be shown in the approximate center of the window.

Minimize Box Height This function is only available at deactivated Automatic Width/Height function and with equal box heights in all generations. Different to the Automatic Width/Height function, this function only calculates the smallest box height, which is large enough for all texts and photos, if any; the tree structure is not created newly, manual movements of boxes or whole branches remain and the box width will not be changed. The calculated smallest box height is valid only for the current box width; with another box width another smallest box height may result. The calculated smallest box height applies to all boxes in all generations.

Minimize Box Height in

This functions are only available at deactivated Automatic Width/Height function and with unequal box heights. Different to the Automatic Width/Height function, this functions only calculate the smallest box height per generation, which is large enough for all texts and photos, if any, in the boxes of that generation; the tree structure is not created newly, manual movements of boxes or whole branches remain and the box width will not be changed. The calculated smallest box heights per generation are valid only for the current box width; with another box width other smallest box heights may result. The calculated smallest box heights apply to all boxes in the generations in question.

Tip: If you want to adjust the smallest box width, which is large enough for the longest words and the widest photos, if any, use the Automatic Width/Height function. Details can be found in the section FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions, topic How to adjust a graphic to minimal width?

Create Placeholder Records... This function opens the dialog of the same name. The right clicked person will be selected as the primary person for the creation of placeholder records. Details of the creation of placeholder records can be found in the section Create Placeholder Records.

Create Geo Object 'Background' for

Creates a Geo Object with the object type "polygon". The object is positioned behind a single box or behind several boxes to highlight the box or boxes. The dialog Edit Free Geo Objects will open, in which you can determine the colors used for the polygon. The coordinates of the polygon are determined automatically. However, you may need to adjust the object edges by hand to avoid intersections with child connection lines. 'Background' Geo Objects may not be used together with a box shadow (for box shadows, see Treeview Options, Box Format tab).

Create Text Object 'Continued on Page...' Opens the dialog Edit Free Text Object to create a Text Object used as a reference to a connecting page in a series of partial trees. The Free Text Object is placed on the outside of the box for the person on the border of the tree. Creation of partial trees is described in the section Splitting up Large Trees.

Insert Column for Binding Margin Inserts an empty column under your mouse to make room for a binding margin. All of the boxes in the selected column and all columns to the right of it will be moved one column to the right. This will make the graphic one column wider. Only horizontal connection lines at a minimum vertical interval of half of the row height pass through this column. This makes it easy to match up connection lines, even if binding the pages causes a small vertical offset. Details can be found in the section Graphics in Books.

Edit Free Text Objects... Opens the dialog Edit Free Text Objects using the data of the selected Free Text Object.

Edit Free Image Objects... Opens the dialog Edit Free Image Objects using the data of the selected Free Image Object.

Free Image Object in Original Size Free image objects that contain an EMF or JPEG file with a previously-exported treeview are scaled to their original sizes with this function. This function determines the size of Free Image Objects when combining multiple trees in one graphic. An example for using this feature can be found in the section Combination of Multiple Trees. In addition, you can scale miniature overviews in partial trees to their original size to get a uniform appearance on all partial trees.

Snap Free Image Object to Grid Free image objects that contain an EMF or JPEG file with a previously-exported treeview are snapped to the column and row grid of the graphic with this function. This function positions the Free Image Object so that the treeview it contains fits precisely into the column/row grid of the graphic. The closest grid position is accepted, which means that the preliminary manual positioning only needs to be approximately accurate. This requires that the current graphic and the treeview in the EMF or JPEG file have the same grid sizes and that the Free Image Object In Original Size function is used first. An example for using this feature can be found in the section Combination of Multiple Trees.

The functions Free Image Object in Original Size and Snap Free Image Object to Grid only work with EMF or JPEG files that contain a treeview and that have been exported with FamilyTreeFactory Version 6.0 or later.Only these EMF and JPEG files contain the necessary data.

Edit Free Geo Objects... Opens the dialog Edit Free Geo Objects using the data of the selected Free Geo Object.

Inserting and deleting points for Free Geo Objects is described in detail in the section Edit Free Geo objects, Modifying Geo Objects.

Tips for Navigation... Displays the section with the same name for keyboard and mouse wheel functions in treeviews.
