Move:
While the Automatic Width/Height function is switched off, you can change the box width and the box height by moving the right or bottom edge of a box with the mouse. The adjusted box width always applies to all boxes of the graphic. The adjusted box height applies to all boxes of the graphic if the checkbox Equal box heights in all generations has been marked in the Treeview Options, Box Format tab; otherwise the adjusted box height only applies to all boxes in the same generation.
Note 1: While the Automatic Width/Height function is switched off, use the function Minimize Box Height in the context menu of the boxes to get the smallest box height, which is large enough for all texts and photos, if any. However, the use of the Automatic Width/Height function is the most comfortable method, because it optimizes all measurements: Treeview Options, Automatic Width/Height tab. |
You can move individual boxes to the left or right with the left mouse button if there is sufficient space and no connection lines will be forced to intersect. The mouse cursor will take on the standard Windows shapes for this: the mouse will take on the shape of a circle with a diagonal line through it to show which target positions are not permitted. You can also move boxes on the left or right outside edges out over the graphic margins and create a new box column in the graphic. This outside column is automatically deleted if you move all of the boxes it contains in towards the center of the graphic.
You can also move entire branches to the left or right with the left mouse button. This is not possible in the treeviews grandparents' descendant tree (parents 1x central) and great-grandparents' descendant tree (parents and grandparents 1x central). For this, hold the shift key and click on the person box at the head of the branch. You can now move the branch with your mouse. The primary person of the tree or siblings of the primary person in ancestor trees may not be selected for this purpose. The branch will be highlighted with a color. As is the case by moving individual boxes, the mouse cursor will change its shape. The mouse cursor will taken on the shape of a circle with a diagonal line through it to indicate that the branch to be moved is not in a permissible position. The branch might collide with other person boxes or connection lines might be forced to intersect in this position. If the outside person box is moved over the left or right margin while moving a branch, this will be limited to a single box column. If you want to move the branch further over the left or right margin, you will need to reselect the branch and create one new box column at a time.
Note 2: If a box column on the left or on the right has been deleted because of moving single boxes or whole branches towards the center, the position of Free Objects has to be checked, if any. |
By moving individual boxes or entire branches, the automatically-created appearance of the graphic may be changed. These manual changes are not saved in the Treeview Options and may be reset (depending on the Program Options, Automatic Functions tab) if you perform the Update function. If you want to save your settings for later use, such as for printing, you should use the Save Treeview Data to File As... function in the Treeview menu.
You can move Free Text, Image and Geo Objects anywhere you want within the graphic area with your left mouse button. In addition, you can adjust the size of selected Free Objects by left-clicking on any of the four dashed edge lines and dragging. For selected Free Geo Objects, you can also move every individual point with the left mouse button.
Draw rectangle:
You can draw rectangles with the left mouse button for various purposes.
If you hold the Ctrl key, you will create a rectangle for Free Objects and indirect person indexes. Here you can also create the special Free Text Objects 'Graphic Title' and 'Symbol Key', which can be used instead of those created and positioned automatically according to the settings in the Treeview Options. The following menu will open:

If you hold the Ctrl and Alt keys, a zoom rectangle will be drawn. This will cause the area you have selected with the rectangle to be shown with an enlarged zoom factor.
