This dialog can also be opened in the treeview: Holding the Ctrl key and drawing a rectangle with your left mouse button, then use the context-sensitive menu.
A person index contains an alphabetical list of persons contained in the current graphic and indicates the column and row position of each person box. If there are duplicates of a person, all positions will be listed. Person indexes are particularly useful for quickly finding persons in extensive graphics with hundreds or thousands of person boxes.
Person indexes can only be output in connection with column and row numbers.
Important: Creating a person index should always be the last step when creating a graphic, as the content and position of the index depend on several settings in the Treeview Options. Proceed in the following order:
|
There are three types of person indexes:
- Direct person indexes are output within the graphic but outside the person box area. For this, a graphic margin (distance between the person box area and the outside edge of the graphic) is automatically enlarged on one side so that there is enough space for the person index. The index is positioned to the left, top, right or bottom of the person box area. This type of index can only be created from the Treeview menu. The data for this type of index are saved with the other treeview options in the treeview files *.trv so that the person indexes can be restored along with a treeview.
- Indirect person indexes can be placed anywhere you like where there is available space. This can be inside the person box area, outside the person box area or in between. For placing indexes outside the person area, you will need to enlarge the graphic margin manually. Indirect person indexes are created as an EMF file, which is then inserted as a Free Image Object. All of the functions for Free Image Objects can be used. This type of index can only be created by holding the Ctrl key and drawing a rectangle with the mouse. The drawn rectangle determines the width/height ratio of the depiction in the created EMF file. The size can be modified later, as is the case for all Free Objects. As Free Image Objects, these person indexes are saved in treeview files *.trv and free placeable object files *.fpo. The associated EMF file must be saved in the directory for image files specified in the Program Options, Directories tab. Saving the data to treeview files ensures that the treeview can be restored.
- Exported PDF person indexes are best-suited for printing out as a separate, formatted document to accompany a printed graphic. PDF indexes can be created in the Treeview menu as well as by holding the Ctrl key and dragging a rectangle with the mouse.
Person indexes are created in three steps on the Content, Format and Output tabs.
Note: The recently used settings for person indexes are saved in the currently opened family file and used as pre-settings for new person indexes. When resetting the Treeview Options to the factory default settings, also the pre-settings for person indexes are reset to the factory default settings. |
