FamilyTreeFactory offers two different methods for protecting data.
| • | Person-based protection of data privacy, which can be used in treeviews, file cards and with Gedcom export. |
| • | Generation-based protection of data privacy, which can only be used in treeviews. |
The rules for person-based data privacy are set in the Program Options on the Protection of Data Privacy tab. The rules refer to the saved personal data.
Generation-based data privacy is not related to personal data. Instead, it is based on whether a person box belongs to one of the youngest generations in the current treeview. The number of "youngest" generations can be set under the Treeview Options on the Box Content tab, Output Personal Data, Protection of Data Privacy.
The following data are still output even if data privacy is active: Given name(s), surname, maiden name, gender, ID code and nature of relationship. In addition, the ancestor or descendant number is indicated based on the current treeview. All other data are not shown.
Note 1: When exporting a text file (Personal Data menu, Export Records As Text File...), data privacy cannot be used. |
Note 2: If you navigate in the Personal Data menu and select the function Delete All Records Not in the Treeview... and data privacy is active for the current treeview, you will be asked in a separate dialog if protected personal data should be deleted in the remaining records. This allows you to select the persons within the current treeview and to regard the protection of data privacy, such as for publication. |
