The output language file editor facilitates the editing of existing language elements and the addition of another output language to the FamilyTreeFactory.LNG output language file. FamilyTreeFactory uses these language elements anywhere words that do not belong to the actual personal data are inserted automatically.
The program window can be maximized and minimized.
The output language file editor displays a table containing columns for the two non-editable German and English default values as well as for every editable language. The editable languages include German and English. These columns must not be confused with the columns of the default values. Every text element contains one row. Context examples in German and English for the selected row are displayed below the table. They illustrate the use of the text elements within the larger context and support the translation process.
Note: If nothing is entered in a cell, FamilyTreeFactory will use the English default value for this text element. To suppress a text element, enter an empty space in the cell. |
Warning: For words in the symbol key (born, baptized, married, marr. (later div.), divorced, not married, deceased, killed in action and buried), no breakable characters may be used. Otherwise, the line in question may be interrupted in the next line if nearby boxes take up too much space. For an empty space, you can use the "hard" empty space Alt+0160. |
With the buttons Delete Language, Add Language and Duplicate Language columns can be deleted and added or an existing column can be copied to a new column. The languages German and English cannot be deleted. The order of the columns can be changed by dragging the head of the column with the mouse.
When starting the output language file editor, the output language file FamilyTreeFactory.lng is loaded. Press the button Save and Close to save your changes. These saved changes are effective immediately in FamilyTreeFactory. The button Cancel closes the window without making changes.
The button Search can be used to start a simple search function. The editable columns are searched from left to right and from top to bottom within the columns. The search can be continued from the selected cell with the function key F3.
